    Job Qualifications

    Robbins Maritime, Inc. requires certain physical qualifications due to the dangerous nature and high risk involved in the nmaritime business. Providing theses qualifications helps to ensure your own safety, as well as the safety of your vessel and crew.

    The following is a list of job qualification requirements for Robbins Maritime, Inc. employees hired to work on tugboats:

    • Lift 100 lbs.

    • Normal color vision

    • Climb up and down 20' ladders

    • Exposure to heights

    • Exposure to extreme hot and cold weather conditions

    • Perform job managing sea sickness

    • Be on your feet for long periods of time

    • No restrictions to wearing safety equipment (foul weather gear, gloves, hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toe work boots, fall protection)

    • Pass a drug test and remain on random drug testing program

    • Complete a background check

    • Able to work a 28-day on / 14-day off shift

    Drug and Alcohol Policy

    Using, possessing, or being under the influence of intoxicant or illegal drugs while on company property or conducting company business is strictly forbidden. (Travel time on or off)

    Entry onto Robbins Maritime, Inc. property constitutes consent to a search request.

    Violations of these policies or denial or a search request may result in termination for an employee, or removal from property for a contract employee.

    Robbins Maritime, Inc. maintains a DOT approved drug and alcohol program and provides tests on the following occasions:

    1. Pre-Employment

    2. Reasonable Cause

    3. Random

    4. Post-Accident

    5. Periodic

    Should an employee test POSITIVE or refuse a test, this shall result in termination and he/she will be removed from all safety sensitive positions. All positive test results will be reported to the U.S. Coast Guard. This could result in the loss of credentials, including your Merchant Mariner’s Document. Robbins Maritime, Inc.
